The homeowners, who are a doctor and a university professor, came to us to seek a solution for a three-generation household consisting a grandmother, parents, and two children. The plot of land is located on the outskirts of Can Tho City, offering proximity to urban life yet with low population density.
The current condition of the land includes a system of reinforced concrete piles, originally intended for a different construction project. In order to optimize resources and minimize costs, we collaborated with structural engineers to develop a layout that accommodates the family’s lifestyle and utilizes all existing piles.
The cluster of bedrooms is oriented towards the North and South, with the entrance hall accentuated by two large circular skylights. The communal living and entertainment area faces East, integrating with the outdoor garden and swimming pool. This garden space acts as a transitional zone, providing separation without complete isolation from the family’s expansive orchard.
The kitchen and laundry facilities are situated in a separate block at the rear, similar to the common layout found in the Mekong Delta region. Adjacent to the entrance, the study area facilitates convenient meetings and work discussions without intruding the family’s privacy.
